Basketball Game Preview: Gateway Gators vs. The Bay School Breakers

The Gateway Gators are taking a road trip to square off against The Bay School Breakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Gateway's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

Gateway is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering International just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 60-55 to the Jaguars. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Despite the defeat, Gateway had strong showings from Hasaan Parker Abram, who posted 16 points, and Zacharia Papadopulos, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Papadopulos has become a key player for the Gators: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least ten rebounds, but 7-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Armando Sarte Jr, who put up six points.

Meanwhile, The Bay School came up short against Drew on Wednesday and fell 72-62. The loss continues a trend for the Breakers in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost three in a row.

Gateway's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 13-11. As for The Bay School, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

Gateway came out on top in a nail-biter against The Bay School when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 51-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
