Softball Recap: Liberty Extends Winning Streak to Five

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Liberty walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes with a sharp 14-7 victory on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Chandler John spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Camdyn Ormond was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Shea Ionson was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

The win was the fifth in a row for Liberty, bringing their record up to 22-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Griggsville-Perry, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Liberty nor Griggsville-Perry have any future games scheduled.
