Baseball Recap: Paetow Takes a Loss

The matchup between Paetow and Katy on Tuesday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Panthers fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 10-9. The Panthers have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Paetow got a good showing from Andrew Olive, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Olive also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Panthers are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-10-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Yarel Delgado made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Paetow: the team is 7-3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Allan Soto, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Paetow now has a losing record of 10-11-1. As for Katy, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

While Paetow had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
