Baseball Game Preview: De Soto Pirates vs. Brookwood Falcons

The De Soto Pirates will challenge the Brookwood Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, De Soto put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over Boscobel. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Oscar Zink looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Wills Davis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Austin DeFlorian, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

De Soto was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Brookwood came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wolves a 12-0 shutout. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.

Brookwood's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for De Soto, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
