Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles vs. South Titans

Bishop Carroll has gone a perfect 10-0 against South recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Titans at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bishop Carroll has seven straight wins, South has 16 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Bishop Carroll made easy work of Kapaun Mt. Carmel and carried off a 7-1 victory. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.

Hayes Allen tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Drew Niedens was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one triple, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tucker Crowley, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, South and North faced off in a cross-town battle on Monday. The Titans came up short against the RedHawks, falling 17-2.

Bishop Carroll pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average this season. As for South, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything went Bishop Carroll's way against South in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Bishop Carroll made off with a 16-0 win. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
