Basketball Game Preview: Rye Thunderbolts vs. Buena Vista Demons

The Rye Thunderbolts just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Buena Vista Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Rye is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 56 points last Thursday, they were much more limited against Lamar on Thursday. They took a blow against the Thunder, falling 65-18. The Thunderbolts were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-10.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buena Vista). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat James Irwin 70-39. The victory continues a trend for the Demons in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won five in a row.

Buena Vista's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Rye, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Rye skirted past Buena Vista 62-60 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Buena Vista's Kaden Schell, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 18 points and seven boards.
