Volleyball Recap: Belton Pirates vs. St. Michael the Archangel Guardians
After flying high against Platte County on Thursday, Belton came back down to earth. The Pirates fell 2-0 to the St. Michael the Archangel Guardians on Saturday. The Pirates were not able to make up for their loss to the Guardians from their previous meeting back in October of 2022.
Dreya Scherfenberg paced Belton's offense, picking up eight kills. Scherfenberg got some help from Maddie Asaeli and her ten assists.
St. Michael the Archangel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mara Franke led the charge by getting seven digs and three aces. That's the most aces Franke has posted over her last 13 matches. Bella Roccaro was another key player, getting nine digs.
Belton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-6 record this season.
