Baseball Recap: Bishop Guilfoyle Victorious

Bishop Guilfoyle not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Penns Valley Area Rams. The Marauders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Michael Cacciotti was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Cacciotti wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Marasco, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Brody Gartman was another, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Bishop Guilfoyle's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Penns Valley Area, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Guilfoyle will challenge Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Penns Valley Area, they will square off against Homer-Center at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Penns Valley Area's pitchers better be ready for this one: Homer-Center has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
