Basketball Game Preview: Wheatley Wildcats vs. La Marque Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats face off against the Cougars on Monday. One thing working in Wheatley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Wheatley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They secured a 90-84 W over Yates.

Meanwhile, La Marque waltzed into their match on Friday with 15 straight wins... but they left with 16. They took down the Texans 74-60. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Texans are ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wheatley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 87.4 points over those games. La Marque's win bumped their record up to 39-2.

Wheatley didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against La Marque in their previous matchup back in December of 2014, but they still walked away with a 63-57 victory.
