Softball Game Preview: Wenonah Dragons vs. Northside Rams

The Wenonah Dragons are taking a road trip to face off against the Northside Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Wenonah is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Wenonah came up short against Parker last Thursday, falling 14-6.

Meanwhile, Northside fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Tuscaloosa County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rams have suffered against the Wildcats since March 15, 2023.

Brayden Billings and Claire Jones stepped up to the plate in a big way. Billings scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Jones scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Jones has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Sharbutt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Even though they lost, Northside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tuscaloosa County only posted a batting average of .212.

Northside's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7-1. As for Wenonah, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
