Recap: San Juan Broncos vs. Needles Mustangs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Duchesne, San Juan was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Needles Mustangs.
Trinity Whatcott made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Whatcott was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, San Juan got a massive performance out of Elise Dalley, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Palmer, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and an additional RBI.
Like San Juan, Needles also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaelyn Garcia. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Garcia has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
