Basketball Recap: Academy of the New Church Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Academy of the New Church duked it out withWilliston Northampton on Sunday. The Academy of the New Church Lions were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 70-69 to the Williston Northampton Wildcats. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Academy of the New Church lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cameron Smith, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Rollerson, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds.

Academy of the New Church's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy of the New Church will face off against George School at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Academy of the New Church is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70 points per game this season.
