Basketball Game Preview: Haines City Hornets vs. Lake Gibson Braves

The Haines City Hornets just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Lake Gibson Braves at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Haines City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season.

Haines City is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They had to suffer through a 81-41 loss at the hands of North Tampa Christian Academy. The game marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Eddy Hyppolite Jr. put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Gianni Foster, who earned four points.

Meanwhile, Lake Gibson had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 58-54 win over New Smyrna Beach on Saturday.

Lake Gibson found their leader in sophomore A'Darrion Willis, who put up 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Epps, who had six points.

Lake Gibson's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Haines City, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Haines City came up short against Lake Gibson when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 62-50. Can Haines City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
