Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Cimarron-Memorial's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Cimarron-Memorial won the last time they faced Chaparral and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cimarron-Memorial Spartans walked away with a 78-65 win over the Chaparral Cowboys. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cimarron-Memorial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Terrence Mitchell, who went 8 for 10 en route to 20 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Mitchell a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Gerald Patterson, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 15 points and seven assists.

Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Qualib Ghallab, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. Ghallab is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 42 games he's played dating back to last season. Dameion Curry was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Cimarron-Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.1 points per game. As for Chaparral, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.

Cimarron-Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-59 loss against Legacy on the 22nd. As for Chaparral, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-63 defeat against Boulder City on the 17th.
