Baseball Recap: Greenfield-Central Takes Down Muncie Central in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Greenfield-Central had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Muncie Central Bearcats. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Brady Martin tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Brady Johnson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nick Flench, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Greenfield-Central's win bumped their record up to 13-14. As for Muncie Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season.

As of now, neither Greenfield-Central nor Muncie Central have any future games scheduled.
