St. Johns Country Day is on a six-game streak of home wins, while University Christian is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Spartans will welcome the Christians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Johns Country Day 3.3, University Christian 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
St. Johns Country Day is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against North Florida Christian, sneaking past 8-7. Eight seems to be a good number for the Spartans as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Hunter Rodgers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Ethan Bissell tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Nick Bowden was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Wells, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, University Christian never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over St. Joseph Academy. The result was nothing new for the Christians, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Like St. Johns Country Day, University Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Caden Worbington. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Worbington was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, University Christian let Bryson Harnage and Corey Wimberly run wild. Harnage went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Wimberly went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Dustin Tharp, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
St. Johns Country Day has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for University Christian, their win bumped their record up to 21-9.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. Johns Country Day has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it's not like University Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Johns Country Day beat University Christian 8-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Christians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
