Basketball Recap: Irwin County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cook on Saturday, Irwin County came back down to earth. The Indians had to suffer through a 71-44 loss at the hands of the Berrien Rebels. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Rebels: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Irwin County still got an impressive performance from Anterrio Wilcox, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Wilcox continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Austin Burton was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 13 points.

Irwin County now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Berrien, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Irwin County will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cook at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for Berrien, they have already played their next matchup, a 67-35 win against Lanier County on the 5th.
