Normal University had lost four games at home, but after bumping their record up to 11-15 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Prairie Central Hawks 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pioneers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

As for Prairie Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-17 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

For Prairie Central's part, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dixie Hogan, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Coming up, Normal University will square off against Sacred Heart-Griffin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cyclones' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Pioneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Prairie Central, they will face off against Pontiac at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
