Basketball Recap: Somerset Wins Going Away Against Nixon-Smiley

A well-balanced attack led Somerset over Nixon-Smiley in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. The Somerset Bulldogs enjoyed a cozy 53-38 victory over the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Janaelyn White and Alize Davila certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. White went 5 for 8 on her way to 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Davila posted 14 points and three steals. That's the most points White has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Janice White, who had six points and seven rebounds.

Somerset's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Nixon-Smiley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somerset will head out to challenge Floresville at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Nixon-Smiley, they will head out on the road to take on Randolph at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
