It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Schuylkill Haven can now relate to. They fell just short of the Williams Valley Vikings by a score of 34-31 on Friday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Hurricanes, who until this game were averaging 14.54 points allowed.

When it comes to explaining why Schuylkill Haven lost, don't look at Colton Reber. Despite the final result, he rushed for 212 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.8 yards per carry. Reber's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 140 rushing yards.

Williams Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Fletcher Thompson, who rushed for 161 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 67 receiving yards and one score. Thompson didn't just play on offense: he also made 13 total tackles and defended one pass. Brady Shomper was another key player, throwing for 284 yards and three TDs on only 19 passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, Schuylkill Haven fell to 12-1. As for Williams Valley, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
