Basketball Game Preview: Dover Pirates vs. Jessieville Lions

Dover is 3-0 against Jessieville since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dover Pirates will be playing at home against the Jessieville Lions at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dover has ten straight victories, Jessieville has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Dover was fully in charge, breezing past Glen Rose 51-16. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 27 points or more this season.

Dover can attribute much of their success to Lily Titsworth, who went 5 of 6 en route to 16 points and three steals, and Logan Young, who posted eight points along with six boards and three steals. Titsworth is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie McCrotty, who had ten points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Jessieville faced off against Harmony Grove on Tuesday. Jessieville came up short against Harmony Grove, falling 61-37.

Dover pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.6 points. As for Jessieville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Dover didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Jessieville in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory. Will Dover repeat their success, or does Jessieville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
