Softball Game Preview: Weston Trojans vs. Newtown Nighthawks

Weston is 0-8 against Newtown since April of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Trojans will host the Nighthawks at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Weston is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Sunday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 21-0 to New Milford, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Newtown faced Masuk in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Sunday. The Nighthawks lost 7-1 to the Panthers. The Nighthawks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Newtown's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1-1 and their overall record down to 8-5-1. As for Weston, their loss dropped their record down to 2-18.

Weston might still be hurting after the 24-0 defeat they got from Newtown in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
