Baseball Recap: Costa Mesa Triumphs

While Costa Mesa's victory against Ocean View wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs skirted past the Seahawks 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since February 21st.

Wylan Rottschafer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March.

Rottschafer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grady Jackson, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Costa Mesa has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Ocean View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-13.

Costa Mesa will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Seahawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
