Football Recap: Childersburg Comes Up Short

Childersburg extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They lost 40-15 to the Vincent Yellow Jackets. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.

As for Vincent, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.8 points on average over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vincent to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Roberts, who rushed for 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 50 receiving yards. Lane Mims was another key player, throwing for 149 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes.

Childersburg will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Beulah at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Vincent, they will challenge Tuscaloosa Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so the Yellow Jackets' offense will have their work cut out for them.
