While Saint Joseph put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for St. Anthony. The Jesters were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Saints. The Jesters might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by eight runs or more this season.
Nicole Bergman looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Saint Joseph got a massive performance out of Julianna Vasquez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Vasquez has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Breanna Ochoa, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3.
Saint Joseph hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive contests.
Saint Joseph's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for St. Anthony, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Saint Joseph will be playing in front of their home fans against Long Beach Poly at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Anthony, they will take on Paraclete at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Spirits will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Saints surely won't give up without a fight.
