Basketball Recap: White Mountain Comes Up Short

White Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Shishmaref Northern Lights, falling 76-56. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Northern Lights are ranked 32nd).

Despite the loss, White Mountain still got an impressive performance from Kaden Adams, who posted 28 points. The matchup was Adams' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Keanan Barr, who scored 14 points.

Corben Nayokpuk was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 12 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and three steals for Shishmaref. Nayokpuk is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Davis-Nayokpuk, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 18 points.

White Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Shishmaref, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

As of now, neither White Mountain nor Shishmaref have any future games scheduled.
