Softball Recap: Strasburg-Franklin Has No Trouble Against East Canton

Strasburg-Franklin won the last time they faced East Canton and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Tigers put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 16-3 win. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Miley Reifenschneider made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reifenschneider was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Strasburg-Franklin let Rayelle Watkins and Ella Gilkerson run wild. Watkins went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Gilkerson got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Watkins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Secrest, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.

Strasburg-Franklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Canton only managed seven hits.

The win made it two in a row for Strasburg-Franklin and bumps their season record up to 11-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for East Canton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Strasburg-Franklin will challenge John Glenn at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Canton, they will be playing at home against Hiland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
