Basketball Recap: Hendrick Hudson Sailors vs. Walter Panas Panthers

The Hendrick Hudson Sailors stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 54-31 margin over Walter Panas. The win was all the more spectacular given Hendrick Hudson's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Panthers are ranked 31st).

Leading Hendrick Hudson to victory were Elyse Smith and Kaitlyn Raguso. Smith scored 19 points along with six assists, while Raguso almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Raguso has scored at least a third of Hendrick Hudson's points. Another player making a difference was Alexa Robinson, who scored five points along with two steals.

Hendrick Hudson's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Walter Panas, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-3.

Hendrick Hudson will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Walter Panas, they will be playing at home against the Hornets at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
