Softball Recap: Hiland Takes a Loss

After flying high against Malvern last Friday, Hiland came back down to earth. The Hawks lost 25-2 to the Sandy Valley Cardinals on Tuesday. The Hawks have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Hiland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Beachy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Eloise Bickel also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Hiland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Sandy Valley, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hiland will host Caldwell at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Sandy Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Ridgewood at 5:00 p.m.
