Basketball Recap: Choctaw Central Skates Past Northeast Lauderdale with Ease

Choctaw Central waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They took their game with ease, bagging a 60-26 victory over the Northeast Lauderdale Trojans. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Trojans are ranked 35th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northeast Lauderdale lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jordyn Vaughn, who posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Vaughn is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalei Bolton, who had five points along with 12 boards and six blocks.

Choctaw Central's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Northeast Lauderdale, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6.

Choctaw Central has already played their next contest (against Pontotoc), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Northeast Lauderdale has already played their next matchup, a 51-45 victory against Leake Central on the 24th.
