Baseball Game Preview: Smithfield Packers vs. Gloucester Dukes

Smithfield hasn't had much luck against Gloucester recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Packers will look to defend their home field against the Dukes at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Smithfield lost 15-4 to Jamestown on Friday.

Smithfield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quincy Carr, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another was Tanner Brobst, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Gloucester didn't have quite enough to beat Tabb on Friday and fell 10-8.

Jesse Jackson and Tyler Boulay stepped up to the plate in a big way. Jackson went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Boulay went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Grayson Shield was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Smithfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Gloucester, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
