Basketball Game Preview: Bucyrus Redmen vs. Upper Scioto Valley Rams

The Bucyrus Redmen will head out on the road to face off against the Upper Scioto Valley Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Bucyrus put up the most points they have all season on Saturday. They strolled past Vanlue with points to spare, taking the game 55-37. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Redmen's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Upper Scioto Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Golden Gophers as they made off with a 58-32 win. The score was all tied up 16-16 at the break, but the Rams were the (much) better team in the second half.

Upper Scioto Valley's win came from a few key players that Bucyrus will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Layla Hunsicker, who posted 21 points and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Chloe Cunningham, who shot 43% from the field on her way to 15 points.

Upper Scioto Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Upper Scioto Valley's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Bucyrus, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-17.
