Softball Recap: Harlingen Cardinals vs. Edinburg North Cougars
With a playoff game on the line, Harlingen rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Edinburg North Cougars. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Harlingen.
Amaris Gomez made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gomez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Gomez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and a stolen base.
In other batting news, Miranda Garza was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
On Edinburg North's side, Destany Bermudez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
