Bayport-Blue Point is 8-2 against Center Moriches since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Phantoms will square off against the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bayport-Blue Point comes in on 18 and Center Moriches on four.
Bayport-Blue Point's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past John Glenn 16-0. The Phantoms might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.
Brady Gelling was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Guytano Kiesel also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Bayport-Blue Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Center Moriches made easy work of Southampton on Friday and carried off a 15-1 win. The Red Devils are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the sixth match they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Jack Passaro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Center Moriches got a massive performance out of Christian Meadows, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Max Rayburn was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Center Moriches pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Bayport-Blue Point, their record is now 14-0.
Bayport-Blue Point came out on top in a nail-biter against Center Moriches when the teams last played on April 2nd, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Phantoms repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
