Baseball Game Preview: San Marcos Knights vs. La Costa Canyon Mavericks

For the second straight game, San Marcos will face off against La Costa Canyon. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (San Marcos 2.6, La Costa Canyon 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Wednesday, San Marcos needed a bit of extra time to put away La Costa Canyon. They had just enough and edged out the Mavericks 4-3. The win was nothing new for the Knights as they're now sitting on three straight.

Brody Layne tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Max Snakenborg was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Max Farrell was another key player, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for La Costa Canyon and nudges their season record down to 6-6. As for San Marcos, they pushed their record up to 9-2-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
