Softball Recap: Highland Has No Trouble Against Hammond Bishop Noll

After only one run in their last game, Highland made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hammond Bishop Noll on Saturday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 12-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won seven in a row.

Skylar Zoeteman made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Boyd, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Erica Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Highland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hammond Bishop Noll only posted an OBP of .346.

Highland's record now sits at 9-6. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
