Softball Game Preview: Denfeld Hunters vs. Duluth East Greyhounds

The Denfeld Hunters will face off against the Duluth East Greyhounds at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Denfeld is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Denfeld lost 7-1 to Moose Lake/Willow River on Friday.

Noelle Vesel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Angie Simone made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season. Bridgette Vegar was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Duluth East's offense. They came up short against Cambridge-Isanti on Friday, falling 8-0. The loss continues a trend for the Greyhounds in their meetings with the Bluejackets: they've now lost seven in a row.

Duluth East now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Denfeld, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
