Basketball Recap: Northwestern Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Northwestern had won two straight home games and Calvin Russell Jr. did his part to make it three on Thursday. The Northwestern Bulls walked away with a 68-55 victory over the Norland Vikings thanks in part to Russell Jr., who went 9 of 12 on his way to 24 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Norland lost, don't look at Oneal Norelus. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. That's the most points Norelus has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Walcott, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Northwestern has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Norland, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Northwestern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-50 win against Miami on the 25th. As for Norland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-26 victory against Dr. Krop on the 29th.
