Baseball Recap: El Dorado Wins Going Away Against Antelope

El Dorado's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by an 18-5 margin over the Antelope Titans. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

JJ Allen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He has become a key player for El Dorado: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Miller, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of El Dorado's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Clay Garrett was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

El Dorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got El Dorado back to even at 4-4. As for Antelope, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Coincidentally, El Dorado and Antelope will both be playing Argonaut the next time they take the field. Antelope will host Argonaut at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while El Dorado will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
