Baseball Game Preview: Summit Academy Knights vs. Union Area Scotties

For the second straight game, Summit Academy will face off against Union Area. The Knights will be playing at home against the Scotties at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Summit Academy has struggled recently with 25 losses in a row, while Union Area will arrive with three straight victories.

Summit Academy came up short against Union Area on Monday, falling 16-1. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly 15 runs.

For Union Area's part, Jalen Peace made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Peace has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Chris Staph was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dom Cucitrone, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Union Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Union Area's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Summit Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.
