Preview: Coolidge Colts vs. Bard Falcons
The Coolidge Colts will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bard Falcons at 5:30 p.m. Coolidge will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
On Wednesday, Coolidge faced Bell in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Coolidge took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 62-7 victory over Bell. That 55 points margin sets a new team best for Coolidge this season.
Coolidge found their leader in underclassman Josslyn Derricott, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Derricott has scored at least a third of Coolidge's points. Jaylyn Derricott was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Bard, who are still winless after their fourth match. They were dealt a 64-8 defeat at the hands of Anacostia last Monday. Bard was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-0.
Coolidge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for Bard, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Everything came up roses for Coolidge against Bard when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 65-6 victory. Does Coolidge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bard turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
