Baseball Recap: Luke Ferguson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mount Greylock Regional

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Wahconah Regional nor Mount Greylock Regional made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Warriors never let the Mounties get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Mounties recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to James Rabuse's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Wahconah Regional's success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Wahconah Regional secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Luke Ferguson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Ferguson's first of the season.

Wahconah Regional picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-6. As for Mount Greylock Regional, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wahconah Regional will face off against Amherst-Pelham Regional at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors are facing the Hurricanes at the right time seeing as the Hurricanes are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Mount Greylock Regional, they will challenge McCann Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Mounties surely won't give up without a fight.
