Baseball Game Preview: Howell North Knights vs. Troy-Buchanan Trojans

For the second straight game, Howell North will face off against Troy-Buchanan. The Knights will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Trojans at 4:15 p.m. The last three games Howell North has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Howell North turned things around against Troy-Buchanan on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Trojans 5-3. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

For Troy-Buchanan's part, they got a good showing from Gavin May, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. May has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Troy-Buchanan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cory Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Brady Eulinger also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Troy-Buchanan is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14. As for Howell North, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
