Baseball Game Preview: Billingsley Bears vs. West Blocton Tigers

The Billingsley Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the West Blocton Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Billingsley will be strutting in after a win while West Blocton will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Thursday, Billingsley was able to grind out a solid victory over Jemison, taking the game 12-7. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Billingsley let Trent Cobern and Mason Truesdale run wild. Cobern scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Truesdale scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Truesdale has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Manning, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, West Blocton came up short against Vincent on Monday, falling 11-2. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Billingsley's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for West Blocton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Billingsley beat West Blocton 8-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Billingsley repeat their success, or does West Blocton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
