Softball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Vikings vs. Geibel Catholic Gators
In what's become a running theme this season, Mt. Pleasant gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past the Geibel Catholic Gators 15-2. Winning may never get old, but Mt. Pleasant sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Carly Surma made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Surma was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Gracie Etling was incredible, going 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Autumn Jurkovic-Kuzma was another key contributor, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Mt. Pleasant has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Mt. Pleasant will play host again on Monday to welcome Ligonier Valley, where first pitch is scheduled at 4:00 p.m. Both teams have allowed few runs on average, (Ligonier Valley: 1, Mt. Pleasant: 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Geibel Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Leechburg at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
