Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jameson Hilton and Maddox Gartland Lead Wesleyan to Victory

Wesleyan won the last time they faced Mount Vernon and things went their way on Friday too. The Wolves snuck past the Mustangs with a 25-19 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Leading Wesleyan to victory were Maddox Gartland and Jameson Hilton. Gartland rushed for 188 yards and one score, while Hilton rushed for 134 yards and one TD. Those 134 rushing yards gave Hilton a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wesleyan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 321 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 86.8 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 244.

Wesleyan's record is now 5-2. As for Mount Vernon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Coming up, Wesleyan will host King's Ridge Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mount Vernon, they will head out on the road to face off against Greenville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
