Softball Recap: Sunset Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sunset ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Sherwood Bowmen by a score of 9-6. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Apollos also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Jordan Pe?a was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5. Kaia McKenna was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

The win (which was Sunset's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Sherwood, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.

Sunset and Sherwood should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings. The Apollos will take on Tigard at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (8 vs. 47). Meanwhile, Sherwood (ranked first) will meet Lakeridge (ranked 94th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
