Softball Recap: Gladstone Starts Season with Victory at Home

Gladstone gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Westwood Patriots a 10-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Westwood's batters probably weren't too happy with Tia Schone, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (she gave up zero walks).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lauren Sundquist, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ava Goodman, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.

Looking ahead, Gladstone will face off against Marquette at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Westwood, they will square off against Kingsford at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
