Softball Recap: Santa Cruz Valley's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Santa Cruz Valley waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Mogollon Mustangs with a sharp 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Dust Devils, who have now won three games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Melody Cade was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Joslene Velazco also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Santa Cruz Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mogollon struck out six times.

Santa Cruz Valley's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Mogollon, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Cruz Valley will square off against Gilbert Classical Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Mogollon, they will head out to square off against Joseph City at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
