Softball Game Preview: IC Catholic Prep Knights vs. Saint Viator Lions

The IC Catholic Prep Knights will face off against the Saint Viator Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither IC Catholic Prep nor Saint Viator posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Saturday, IC Catholic Prep came up short against Nazareth Academy and fell 7-2. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

IC Catholic Prep saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ariani Zito, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Zito has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Meanwhile, Saint Viator was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Joliet Catholic, falling 17-2.

Saint Viator's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for IC Catholic Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Saint Viator's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: IC Catholic Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Saint Viator, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given IC Catholic Prep's sizable advantage in that area, the Lions will need to find a way to close that gap.
